6th Islamic Economics Workshop

Methodology of Islamic Economics

6-8 April, 2018 / Istanbul

Research Center for Islamic Economics (IKAM) in collaboration with Scientific Studies Association (ILEM) and Turkish Entrepreneurship and Business Ethics Association (IGIAD) will organize 6th Islamic Economics Workshop from 6 to 8 April, 2018. The conference aims to address methodological enigma facing Islamic economics discipline which has puzzled the pioneers of this discipline for years, diametrically opposing perspectives about which have contributed to rich research on various dimensions of the subject nonetheless have hampered its development too.
Topics that will be covered in the workshop related to the issue of “Methodology of Islamic Economics” should address but are not restricted to the following issues:

  1. The dilemma of current Islamic Economics studies
  2. Islamization of knowledge in Economics
  3. Islamic Economics methodology and Fiqh
  4. Usul al-Iqtisad Approach
  5. Islamic Economics and ‘Maqasid’ based approach
  6. Axiomatic and empirical methods from the perspective of Islamic Economics
  7. Use of Mathematics in Islamic Economics and incompatibility of positive methodologies with social sciences
  8. Methodological steps towards the Islamization of an Economy
  9. A comparison of methodology in Islamic and Conventional Economics
  10. Philosophical foundations of Islamic Economics
About Workshop
Submission of Papers
Abstracts are expected be sent to the workshop at until 30 November 2017. The final acceptance for participation in the workshop will be decided through full texts. Articles that are sent to the workshop should be authentic, not having been published or presented in any other program or publication.

Travel and Accommodation
The workshop is envisioned as a meeting of minds among thinkers, scholars and practitioners in a limited number. Authors of the accepted papers will be covered for round-trip economy class air ticket and hotel accommodation during the workshop.

The papers presented at the workshop will be reviewed and considered for publication in an edited book that will be published both in Turkish and English by Iktisat Yayinlari following the conference.
